What is YOUtheatre U.K.?

 

YOUtheatre U.K. is one of Tameside's leading youth theatres, established in 2010 for young people aged 5 - 17. We hold workshops teaching different aspects of musical theatre, put on regular performances and take our members on theatre trips.

 

Our ethos is based on respect, and our classes focus on encouraging our members to support each other as they learn different performance techniques. Our young people come from many different areas and schools across Tameside, and often join not knowing anyone in the class, so it is important to us to make every new member feel welcome and comfortable as soon as possible. YOUtheatre U.K. puts the main emphasis of what we teach on the interests and needs of our members. Classes not only teach young people drama and theatre skills, but also help to build their confidence and self-esteem and give them the ability and skils to cope with everyday situations regardless of their theatrical aims and ambitions.

 

 

What makes us different?

 

YOUtheatre U.K. is run by professional theatre company 2 Boards & A Passion. Our tutors are highly motivated, experienced teachers and performers. We do not rely on volunteer tutors, which means we do not experience the fast turnover of staff and children that some groups encounter, and your child will have a consistently high standard of teaching. We work hard to ensure that we run a successful, friendly youth theatre, and to get the most out of the young people who attend our classes.

 

We also want to make sure that the members of YOUtheatreUK have a say in what we do and how we do it! You will be able to give us YOUR input into how YOUR youth theatre is run and what we perform.

 

 

What we are NOT!

 

We are NOT a 'star academy' trying to turn our members into celebrities. We don't have time for 'divas' and children who walk straight in wanting to have the biggest part, or tell everyone how much better than everyone else they are. Drama and Musical Theatre rely on teamwork and co-operation, and our members improve these skills alongside their performance skills whilst having lots of fun at the same time!
